Objective

Purpose of the course
This course helps you keep your focus on the student when you design a course for the digital environment. You will use the learning process as a tool for designing the core of a course – and for navigating through a myriad of possibilities in the digital environment to help your students reach their learning goals. You will also explore the roles of guidance and being present in creating a good learning experience in the digital environment.

The study group consists of teacher students from JAMK and Masaryk University (MUNI) (www.muni.cz/en), Brno, the Czech Republic. You will work on a micro-project in small international virtual teams, which gives you a chance to experience collaboration between two educational contexts. The micro-project is done during the webinars, so there is no need to agree on meetings outside the online sessions with your team members.

The course activities also include orientating tasks before the online sessions, one larger individual learning task and possibly a small task that is done in virtual teams.

The medium of instruction is English. No long written assignments are required, and the largest individual task can be done either in Czech, English or Finnish.

If you do not teach or work in international virtual teams, you can consider this course as a virtual mini-exchange period and an opportunity to use the English language in a safe environment to develop the communication skills you need in facilitating learning in an international context!

The course includes five online sessions.
