The course includes seven online meetings: March 23 at 17-19, March 27 at 17-19, April 4 at 17-19, April 11 at 17-19, April 18 at 17-19, April 25 at 17-19, and May 2, at 17-19.

Content

The module is taught in a seminar format, with seven meetings. The first meeting will contain a lecture on the topics of the seminars and instructions on how to complete the course. The following five meetings will acquaint the participant with five central philosophical issues/debates of the topic of the seminar. The topic of the seventh meeting will be agreed on during the course together with the participants.​ The topics of the seminars will alternate each term, and they will focus on the philosophical issues of different sciences (e.g., Philosophy of the Health Sciences, Philosophy of Biology, Philosophy of Physics/Natural Sciences, Philosophy of Psychology). Objective

Learning outcomes: The participant will become acquainted with the current philosophical, theoretical, and conceptual issues and debates of her field of science. The participant will acquire conceptual and argumentative tools for discussing and writing about the foundational issues of her field. The participant will become acquainted with sources for finding information about the philosophical issues relevant to her research.​

Methods of completion

Lectures and seminar teaching, guided discussions.​

Methods of completion

Modes of study: Reading assignments, preparing short summaries of the read material, participation in guided discussions, a final essay (2 CP). For an extra credit (3 CP in total): an oral presentation on some topic of the meetings (based on additional material).​
