The students
- know the central concepts of organising as well as strategic and daily management
- understand the significance of management tools in the development of work community
- are capable of high-quality daily management
- know the central operation and organisation principles of European welfare service systems
- have a general idea about the position and significance of professional task area in an international operational environment

Qualifications

Management and leadership competence achieved in Bachelor's degree in health care and social services.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The general criteria of the competences that the Master's Degrees awarded by Finnish Universities of Applied Sciences provide can be found on JAMK's web pages (http://opinto-oppaat.jamk.fi/en/Study-Guide-Masters-Degrees/). The learning outcomes of individual courses are assessed in relation to the objectives of the course concerned. Assessment is based on knowledge, skills and competence in accordance with the National and European Qualifications Framework (NQF/EQF), level 7.

If the student does not meet the minimum criteria set for the course, the grade is 0 (Fail).

Adequate (1) - Satisfactory (2)
Knowledge: The student is able to analyse the basic concepts of administration and management in a narrow sense; his/her understanding and definitions of the concepts are mechanical.
Skills: The student understands the basic theories and principles of the competence area and is able to examine them in the frame of reference of working life. The student is able to communicate a certain entity associated with the special thematics of management to his/her peers. He/she takes instructions issued to him/her into account and is capable of cooperation.
Joint competences: The knowledge base as a whole is rather limited and does not reflect a particular development of expertise.

Good (3):
Knowledge: The student is able to recognize phenomena of administration and management, demonstrating evolving expertise. He/she is able to justify his/her use and definition of concepts.
Skills: The student is able to delimit and describe the basic tasks of administration and management in relation to the special features of his/her own work community or the field. He/she demonstrates an ability to successfully communicate about his/her observations.
Joint competences: The student demonstrates a mastery of the knowledge base in the competence area and is able to apply it in the work community or examine it in the context of a work community.

Very good (4) - Excellent (5)
Knowledge: The student masters and examines the key concepts of administration and management systematically, in a versatile manner and discovering new perspectives.
Skills: The student has formed a clear and analytical idea of the special features of his/her own work community or field from the perspective of administration and management. He/she masters certain management tools and is able to communicate in his/her work and learning community.
Joint competences: The student masters the knowledge base, theories and principles of the competence area and demonstrates an ability to use them in efforts to develop the work community. The student shows an ability for independent and reflective work and for taking initiative.
