Objective

The student can:
• use various communication media in an appropriate way
• use language structures, terminology and style needed in business communication
• understand the business culture of the target area
• follow established business practices
• take care of business arrangements and customer encounters needed in organising international events and interpret related written materials
• produce written materials related to events
• perform product demonstrations and give product information
• use vocabulary related to marketing and advertising and communication tools effectively

Content

• basic business communication (inquiries, replies to inquiries, requests for quotation, orders, confirmations, invoicing) in writing by e-mail, fax or by letter and orally in negotiations and over the phone
• required language structures, vocabulary needed in business communication, stylistic and communicative tools
• participating in different events as an organiser or a client
• arrangements, negotiations and customer service related to events, business visits and trips
• product demonstrations
• information and advertising materials in writing and on the Internet
• cultural differences in business cultures
• marketing and advertising terminology

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The learning outcomes of individual courses are assessed in relation to the objectives of the course concerned. Unless otherwise defined in the curriculum, a course accepted as completed is assessed on the following five-step scale: 5 (Excellent), 4 (Very Good), 3 (Good), 2 (Satisfactory), 1 (Sufficient), If the student does not meet the minimum criteria set for the course, the grade is 0 (Fail). In special cases, a course may be graded as Pass/Fail, marked as “S (Pass)” and “0 (Fail)”.
