Methods and Approaches to Strengthen Parenting and Spousal RelationshipLaajuus (5 cr)

Objective

The student is able to critically assess and apply the knowledge of families, parenting and spousal relationships. The student masters the relevant methods and approaches in strength-based practice of supporting parenting and spousal relationships including the theoretical framework behind them. She/he also understands their interlinkages in promoting well-being and participation of families. The student masters relevant methods of assessing parenting and is able to apply them in developing and innovating new methods in client work practice.

Content

- Research-based interventions and programs on assessing and strengthening parenting and spousal relationships
- Early support and intervention, intensive or corrective interventions
- Strengthening parenting and spousal relationships at different levels (e.g. psychosocial support, coaching) and by utilizing new technological innovations

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The learning outcomes of individual courses are assessed in relation to the objectives of the course concerned. Assessment is based on knowledge, skills and competence in accordance with the National and European Qualifications Framework (NQF/EQF), level 7.

If the student does not meet the minimum criteria set for the course, the grade is 0 (Fail).

1 (Sufficient) – 2 (Satisfactory)
The student knows the central methods of evaluating and promoting parenthood and relationship, and their application possibilities.
3 (Good) – 4 (Very good)
The student has a wide knowledge of the methods of evaluating and promoting parenthood and relationship, and he is able to apply them to practice.
5 (Excellent)
The student masters and introduces versatile practical approaches to the methods of evaluating and promoting parenthood and relationship as part of a challenging client service work.
