Objective

The students are familiar with the teaching methods and materials for the early grades of musical study, and are able to develop and apply them. They are familiar with teaching and with the work of a teacher. They are familiar with learning guidance and with the practices of evaluation in the teaching work and are experienced in cooperative work.

Content

The basic materials and methods of free cultural work, art basic teaching and elemental music teaching. The planning of group teaching at elemental level, its command and evaluation of skills.

Qualifications

The students are familiar with the principles of music education and understand the different concepts of learning as concerns music. They understand the significance of study plans as the basis for teaching. They are familiar with the activities of music institutes and with team work. They have the readiness for developing reflective teachership and understand the principles of portfolio work.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Evaluation of portfolio: guiding teacher's evaluation, comparative evaluation, self-evaluation.
Pass: the students know the basic principles and materials in elemental music teaching, the methods and the challenges in the work milieu. They have the skills to guide the learning of student groups over a long span. They are able to present in orderly manner their own view of the main features of group teaching based on their experience, on the existing sources and on their skills at the moment.
