Objective
The students understand the use of differential equation in the modelling of dynamic systems and can form and solve a differential equation in a simple case. They are familiar with the concept of vector-value function and its connection to vector-type physical quantities. They are familiar with the concept of function with multiple variables and the application of these functions to optimisation models.
Content
The concept of differential equation, separated and first-order coefficient equation. Vectors and vector-value functions. Functions with multiple variables, partial derivatives, gradient, extreme values.
Qualifications
The students can solve equations and systems of equations, and analyse graphs of real functions. They master the concepts of derivative and integral.
Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)
Excellent 5: The student has a clear overall idea of the subject. He/she is able to cretively apply the differential equations, vectors and functions of severs variables to physical phenomena. Also the student can calculate by functions of several variables.
Very good 4: The student has a clear overall idea of the subject. He/she is able to apply the differential equations, vectors and functions of severs variables to physical phenomena.
Good 3: The student masters well the essential learning objectives of the course: he (she) can solve the differential equations learned in the module, masters the calculation of vectors, he (she) can differentiate and integrate vector functions. Also the student can calculate by functions of several variables.
Satisfactory 2: The student has an imperfect knowledge of the essential learning objectives of the course: he (she) can solve dimple differential equations learned in the module, knows the calculation of vectors, he (she) can differentiate and integrate basic vector functions. Also the student can calculate by simple functions of several variables.
Sufficient 1: The student masters poorly of the learning objectives of the course and he (she) has a fragmented idea of the subject.
