Objective
The student understands the basic concepts of integral transforms and forms an idea of how transform operations can be used in the modelling, analysis and control algorithms of physical systems and in tuning control circuits. The student forms and idea of the mathematical description of an electromagnetic spectrum.
Content
Continuous and discrete systems, Laplace transform, solving differential equations using the
Laplace transform, tranfer function, Z transform and differential equations, Fourier series, spectrum of a periodical signal. Discrete Fourier transform, FFT.
Qualifications
Basic knowledge of algebra and anlasysis, derivative and integral, concept of differential equation.
Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)
excellent (5) Clear overall understanding of the topic and ability to apply independently to control systems and problems in information technology
- good (3-4) Good command of the essential goals of the module: LTI system, convolution, Laplace- and z-tranforms, the concept of discrete and continuous Fourier transform. The student understands how to apply these tools to solve differential and difference equations to describe signal spectrum
- satisfactory (1-2) Poor command of individual areas, fragmented idea of the topic
- fail (0) Has not mastered the topic
