Objective

Upon completion of the course, the students know modern cellular network technologies, satellite positioning systems, broadband wireless (WAN) data transfer technologies, general broadcast networks, and adopt their operating principles through the laboratory exercises included in the course.

-commercial 3GPP telecommunication standards (GSM, UMTS, LTE, TETRA)
-satellite positioning systems
-positioning signals
-receiver techniques
-broad band wireless techniques
-general broadcast techniques

Qualifications

Mastery of the mathematical basic skills needed in telecommunications technology (Fourier transformation, spectral analysis, modulation methods)
Basics of telecommunication networks and systems
ISO OSI model
Mastery of the basic theory of wireless data transfer

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Excellent 5: The student knows comprehensively the essential wireless systems and he (she) can design, size and evaluate the wireless transfer connections.
Very good 4: The student knows well the essential wireless systems and he (she) can design, size and evaluate the wireless transfer connections.
Good 3: The student knows the essential wireless systems and he (she) can design and size a wireless transfer connection.
Satisfactory 2: The student knows the essential principles and concepts of wireless systems and he (she) can design a simple wireless transfer connection.
Sufficient 1: The student knows the essential principles and concepts of wireless systems.
