Objective

The student knows broadly the essential applications based on open source software. He (she) understands how to utilize the open source software both in public sector and in business environment. The stundent can realize and configure different WEB and enterprise services using open sourse software applications.

Content

- The business models and licenses of open source software
- The offered open source software applications
- Realizing a WWW enterprise service using open source software on some of the following areas: content management, publishing systems, learning environments, management, customer data systems, group tools, electronic business and Web user interfaces for different information services.
- During the studies, a network based software service is designed and realized based on suitable open software applications.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Excellent 5: The student has a wide and comprehensive knowledge of open source software programs, and he (she) can innovatively and in a versatile way apply his (hers) skills in the exercises.
Very good 4: The student has a wide knowledge of open source software programs and he (she) can innovatively apply his (hers) skills in the exercises.
Good 3: The student has a versatile knowledge in applying open source software and he (she) can apply the skills in exercises.
Satisfactory 2: The student can realize a software based service using open source software. Sufficient 1: The student can realize a simple software based service using open source software.
