Objective

The students know the operating principles of an automation assembly line, the basic features of robotics and transport systems, and related automation. They can design basic controls for robots and transporters and use programmable logics to implement the controls of a flexible assembly line. They can design controls for the hardware of an automation laboratory.

Content

The central contents cover the branches of manufacturing automation: robotics, manipulators, proximity switches, escort memories, RFID devices, transporters, pneumatic and electrical controls, programmable logics, and actuator technology.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Very good (4-5): The student masters the essential knowledge and skills of the course and can apply the knowledge independently to automatic assembly systems.
Good (3): The student masters the essential knowledge and skills of the course and can operate automatic assembly systems.
Satisfactory (1-2): The student is familiar with the basics but the skills in applying the most important knowledge are inadequate.

The assessment is based on the exam, assignments and laboratory work.
