Objective

The students
• know the main unit processes
• understand the building up of overall processes from unit processes
• recognize the starting points of the dimensioning of processes and control design
• understand industrial production processes and the functionality of their automation
• can describe a process and define the principles of its functionality and automation

Content

Unit processes,
the processes off forest industry, energy production, chemistry, foodstuff industry and metallurgical industry

Qualifications

Basic knowledge of mathematics, physics and chemistry

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Very good (4-5): The student understands complicated processes based on unit processes. The student understands the backgrounds of the dimensioning and is able to make diverse types of dimensioning. The student understands well the material flows, unit processes and device solutions and also the principles connected with their control and automation.

Good (3): The student identifies the unit processes and understands the interdependencies between them. Understanding of controls and automation functions is successful and meets the requirements of the unit processes.

Satisfactory (1-2): The student identifies the unit processes and their devices.
