Objective
The students know the structure, operation and implementation of distributed digital automation systems (Distributed Control Systems, DCS) with regard to both hardware and software, are able to program basic measurements, controls and adjustments, and to create application modules and perform operation tests. Upon completion of the course, the students are able to program the basic operations of laboratory process instruments.
Content
The main contents include programming design for process and control units, automation system HW and SW structure, fieldbuses, and field equipment. Laboratory work with automation lab equipment.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)
Very good (4-5): The student masters the basics of the equipment control in industrial automation systems and the basics of the monitoring station design.
Good (3): The student has achieved the learning objectives of the basics of the equipment control in industrial automation systems and the basics of the monitoring station design.
Satisfactory (1-2): The student can carry out the basic tasks related to the equipment control in industrial automation systems and the monitoring station design but his/her skills are insufficient to work independently.
