Objective

The students perceive the future professional field and its production companies and they form a total view of production as part of a company’s business operations and the significance of quality as a competitive means.

Content

Mastering the productivity and profitability principles. The tools of production operations success factors s, like cost-effectiveness, delivery capability and flexibility. Production types, production network, parts of a production system and production flow. Cooperation of product development and product operations. Maintenance.

Qualifications

The students master the basics of the most common workshop production methods and the machines used in them.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Very good (4-5): The student masters the learning objectives required to get the grade Good (3) and is able to search for alternative solutions in order to develop the production in a critical and innovative manner.
Good (3): The student is able to justify and
- create different kinds of production structures
- prepare control systematics for items
- design layouts for production areas
- make simple cost calculations /estimations
Satisfactory (1-2): The student understands the following concepts: production flow, cost-efficiency and production flexibility. Moreover, the student can describe the most common production types and basically understands how production systems are planned and controlled.

Assessment is based on the exam and assignments.
