Objective

The students understand the operation control principles of industrial maintenance especially from the point of view of information management related to maintenance. The students know the special characteristics of downtime planning of a production plant from the maintenance point of view. The students understand and can develop the different phases of the introduction and use of operation control- or information systems of maintenance. The students perceive the different organization models of maintenance as service operations of maintenance and also as an outsourced operations model. The students can define and exploit the parameters of maintenance. The students understand the role of continuous improvement as a part of the development of maintenance.

Maintenance operations models and operations management. Organization of maintenance.Maintenance as an outsourcing service and outsourced operation. Downtime planning. Maintenance operations management systems of and their basic functionality. Exploiting the history information of maintenance. Maintenance parameters. Continuous improvement as a part of maintenance. Development trends of maintenance.

Qualifications

The students understand the significance and role of the maintenance of a production plant or equivalent as the bearer of production efficiency. They know the content and significance of different maintenance strategies and they recognize the most typical methods behind these strategies. The students understand the operations management principles of maintenance and they perceive the most important themes of life cycle thinking.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Very good (4-5): The student masters the essential knowledge and skills required to get the grade Good (3) and can apply the knowledge acquired to the solution of a development problem in a critical and innovative manner.
Good (3): The student can utilize the knowledge and skills required to get the grade Satisfactory (1-2) when completing the given tasks
Satisfactory (1-2): The student understands the operation control principles of industrial maintenance.
The student knows the special characteristics of downtime planning of a production plant from the maintenance point of view.
The student understands the significance of classification in technical and maintenance incident reports.
The student understands the significance of maintenance parameters.
