Objective

The student understands the main components, materials of the paper- and boardmaking line and their application based on requirements of the industry.

Content

Papermaking line components, materials, rolls, roll covers and the auxiliary systems from stock preparation to roll wrapping.

Qualifications

The student understands sub-processes of papermaking line, their function, factors affecting productivity and quality of the paper. One has the basic knowledge of the papermaking process and raw materials.
In addition the student must know the terminology of papermaking and paper machine technology in English

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Very good(4-5): The student masters well different types of paper and board manufacture lines, understands the functions of different sub-processes and is able to apply the material, machine and structure design principles to the design of different sub- processes.
Good (3): The student masters different types of paper and board manufacture lines, is familiar with their overall structures and knows the material and mechanical basics of different sub-processes.
Satisfactory(1-2): The student masters different types of paper and board manufacture lines, understands their sub-processes and the functions of them and also knows the material and structural requirements connected to different sub-processes but there are some deficiencies in the machine design applications.
