Objective

The students master the comprehensive implementatiom of a design project according to the goals of the client by exploiting project working methods. The students know how to exploit the knowledge acquired in other courses in the implementation of the project.

Qualifications

The students have the basic knowledge of the strength of materials and they are able to static sizing of structures with the help of manuals and sizing table cases. The students know the most common machine components and their connections and they know also the sizing and choosing principles of machine components. The students are able to choose the appropriate materials for a structure. The student can make workshop- and assembly drawings and they master also 3D modelling and producing workshop drawings from a 3D model. The students understand the progress of a design project and also the importance of the manufacturing and economic factors in product design. The students are able to utilize standards as design support.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Very good (4-5): The student can innovatively execute an overall design process utilizing the project work methods. The student can apply the knowledge acquired during other courses to a practical design project in a critical manner. The student achieves project results which satisfy the client very well.
Good (3): The student masters and can execute a design process utilizing the project work methods and is able to apply knowledge acquired during other courses to a practical design task. The student achieves project results which satisfy the client.
Satisfactory (1-2): The student has some difficulties in the execution of a design process and in the application of the project work methods. The student is able to apply satisfactorily knowledge acquired during other courses to a practical design task. The student partly achieves project results which satisfy the client.
