Objective
The students are familiar with bedrock and soil formation processes, the fabric and composition of soil types and the most important soil properties. Familiarity with the most common laboratory and field research methods.
The students master common ground survey methods and know the regulations and guidelines related to the design, implementation and supervision of foundation structures. They know different types of substructure construction, building pits, the drainage and frost protection of building ground, and the requirements for filling work.
The students are familiar with the causes and consequences of damage by foundation structures, with the repair methods used in foundation structures, and know how to take into account radon in new buildings and in buildings undergoing repair or renovation.
