Basics of House BuildingLaajuus (8 cr)

Objective

The students are familiar with the main literature of the field and able to search for information. They master the main stages of a building project, knowing the roles and responsibilities of the parties of a building project, as well as common building permit practices and the air-to-air heat transmission coefficient, and can draft construction and detail drawings for a simple building.
The students are familiar with the job descriptions of construction engineers in order to know where to direct their interests during their studies, master the names of structural elements and building materials, and the basics of their use.
The students know construction site equipment and work stage descriptions related to on-site construction/element construction.

Content

Main literature, the parties of a building project, the Land Use and Building Act and Decree, calculating U-values for structures, drawing exercises.
Company visits, structural elements, construction materials.
General construction site equipment, concreting equipment, excavation machinery, work stage descriptions and construction site visits, on-site construction / element construction

40% = grade 1, 90% = grade 5.
