Objective

Students know how to utilise information and communications technology in work. Students have basic information on copyrights and information security and their significance. Students know the basics of office software (word processing, presentation graphics and spreadsheets). Students are familiar with social media tools and services.

Content

Key functions of word processing software to enable drawing up of documents conforming to document standard and reports conforming to the JAMK reporting instructions.
During the course students will complete the reporting templates which they can then utilize later on in their studies.
Spreadsheet software key functions and practical usage.
Use of presentation graphics software and application of the skills to prepare a high-quality presentation.
Basic copyright concepts and information security and their significance.
Students know the basics of online communications tools (e.g. social media).
The course may also include on a degree programme specific basis other key information technology sectors required for field-specific skills.

To pass a course students must demonstrate that
o they master basic IT skills at a level required by studies and working life
o they are capable of improving their IT skills
The students’ skills are assessed on the basis of the assignments.

Depending on the implementation lectures/virtual lectures and assignments 20 - 60 hours, independent student work 20 - 60 hours. Total student workload 80 hours.

The development and progressing of the ICT is rapid. The recognition of prior learning can be applied only by using the previous studies no older than 5 years. For the accreditation please contact the course teacher. The actual accreditation and recognition process shall be presented during the first meeting of the course.The responding course in Finnish: ZZPP0400 ICT-valmiudet.Jyväskylä University of Applied Sciences uses Windows- and Office environment. This course provides transferable skills for aforesaid environment.
