Objective
The students are able to assess the treatment needs and urgency of a primary health care customer, implement a clinical examination and make treatment decisions based on an interview, observations and status findings. The students make decisions within the limits of their area of responsibility and consult a doctor and other experts if necessary. The students master the monitoring of long-term illnesses and customer guidance, drawing on various methods. The students are skilled in the most common examinations and procedures carried out in surgery activities.

Qualifications
The students master basic knowledge of social and health care sector customer relationships and settings, key concepts and methods as well as goals and methods of counselling, health promotion and preventive nursing, and they are familiar with the basic premises of evidence-based decision-making. The students master the basics of nursing that promotes health and functional ability and customer-oriented nursing. They have completed theoretical studies in the clinical examination of a patient, assessment of need for treatment and decision-making in clinical nursing. They can perform pharmaceutical calculations acceptably.

Pass (S): Students
Comply with the ethical principles of outpatient health care and patient safety, and respect the customer’s autonomy
Together with the patients and their families, plan, implement and evaluate nursing, applying multidisciplinary evidence-based knowledge
Are skilled in key examinations, treatment procedures and the safe use of instruments
Implement safe drug therapy
Master the monitoring of long-term illnesses and health-promoting counselling
Document a surgery visit as required by legislation
Implement goal-oriented counselling in a customer-centred manner, drawing on appropriate guidance and teaching material
Assess their own actions critically and suggest targets for development.
