Objective
Together with the care team, the students plan, implement and evaluate the nursing of patients affected by public health problems, mental health problems and addiction-related illnesses and of crisis patients ethically and in a customer-oriented manner, ensuring patient safety and applying multidisciplinary evidence-based knowledge.
Content
Publich health problems, internal diseases, nursing in mental health, addiction-related and crisis problems.
Qualifications
The students master the evaluation and observation of vital functions and key assistance methods in nursing. They are able to help and support the patients in coping with their daily activities. They have capabilities for lifestyle counselling and nursing related to key public health problems. The students master the assessment, monitoring and key nursing methods related to mental health, addiction and crisis patients. They are able to help and support the patients and their families, promoting good mental health and sobriety. The students are able to keep records and work in compliance with data protection regulations. They have passed the pharmaceutical calculations test.

Pass (S): Students
• comply with the ethical principles of nursing and requirements of patient safety
• together with the care team, they plan, implement and evaluate the nursing of patients affected by public health problems, mental health problems and addiction-related illnesses and of crisis patients ethically and in a customer-oriented manner, ensuring patient safety and applying multidisciplinary evidence-based knowledge
o apply their nursing skills and multidisciplinary evidence-based knowledge when planning the patient’s care together with the patient
o are skilled in key treatment procedures and the safe use of implements
o are able to counsel and prepare a patient for key examinations related to public health problems
o are able to encounter a mental patient, an addict and a crisis patient and the patient’s family drawing on their nursing skills
o are able to counsel and assist the patients and their families in coping with key mental health problems, addiction-related illnesses and crises
o implement safe drug therapy
o apply their knowledge of treatment and service chains and the psychological continuity of care, thus promoting the health of patients and their families
o ensure continuity of care when the patient returns home
o communicate in writing for the purposes of the patient record system and orally, clearly and ensuring patient safety
• under guidance, implement goal-oriented patient counselling related to lifestyles and care in a resource-based manner and stressing the active role of the patient, drawing on appropriate guidance and teaching material
