Objective
The students develop their expertise in the area of their choice in public health nursing in the public sector, an NGO or a company, or plan, implement and evaluate a public health nursing development assignment. They are able to assess their work and competence through critical reflection and recognize development needs associated with their identity as a public health nurse and health promotion expertise, and draw up development plans for their competence. The students have capabilities for developing public health nursing, and they make suggestions concerning the development of their area of expertise. They have a research-oriented and evidence-based work approach, and they are able to work in an entrepreneurial spirit. They are capable of a working method that shows initiative and is instructive, as well as of solving problems and making decisions, when implementing research and development assignments relevant to public health nursing and health promotion in working life projects. They are able to work in multiprofessional teams and various research and development assignments, and they are capable of applying their public health nursing expertise and working life development methods appropriately. The students are able to report on the outcomes of their work as required by the assignment.

Advanced professional practice, that builds up professional competence in an area of public health nursing selected by the student, or a development assignment of public health nursing.
Qualifications
The students master the basic knowledge, key concepts and methods of social and health care sector customer relationships and setting as well as goals and methods of guidance and health promotion, preventive nursing and family nursing, and they are familiar with the basics and methods of evidence-based decision-making and advanced public health nursing.
Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)
The students have a good knowledge base in public health nursing, health promotion and public health work and skills in the operating principles of their area of expertise. They are able to apply information based on both domestic and international evidence in the field of public health nursing as the basis of decision-making. They are able to assess information critically, demonstrating creative thinking. They apply the knowledge they have acquired and are able to use ICT for finding, editing, producing and communicating information. They highlight evidence-based information in multiprofessional communication situations of public health nursing, taking social and cultural perspectives into account. They are able to apply the knowledge they have obtained and the skills they have demonstrated in decision-making situations. They are able to develop public health nursing, and they demonstrate their competence in ways that are relevant in working life. They are able to assess their competence and the skills they have acquired comprehensively, critically and instructively. They are able to draw up a plan to develop their competence/a career plan, taking the current and future requirements of working life into consideration. They demonstrate skills that meet the basic requirements for public health nursing. Under guidance, they assume responsibility for professional assignments/projects, demonstrating an instructive and entrepreneurial work approach. They have capabilities for working in development projects where they are able to apply the knowledge base of their own field and ICT technology. They are capable of customer-oriented work and take cultural differences into account in various interactive working life situations. They are able to act in an entrepreneurial spirit.
