Objective
The students are aware of and they can explain their own professional, ethical and pedagogical principles in early childhood education. The students can plan, implement and assess activity in accordance with the principles of child orientation in a goal-oriented way. He or she understands the children’s needs and resources in a particular context and is able to use working methods in an appropriate way.

goals of early childhood education, contextual orientations, methods, observation and assessment, planning pedagogic activities, child orientation education and participation, evaluation of own professional development in early childhood education work.
Qualifications
The students know the guiding documents of early childhood education. They know the main principles of under school aged children's growing, development and learning. The students have ability to develop and consider their own educational work.
Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)
Very good - Excellent (4-5):
The student demonstrates to have reached the learning objectives of the course on an excellent level. The student participates in contact lessons and conversations in online environment and he/she completes the given assignments. In written assignments, he/she shows excellent capabilities to describe the subjects of the course and to consider them critically. He/she knows how to utilize both Finnish and English sources. The students follow the reporting instructions of Jyväskylä University of Applied Sciences.
Good (3): The student demonstrates to have reached the learning objectives of the course on a good level. The student participates in contact lessons and the conversations in online environment and he/she completed the given assignments. In written assignments, he/she shows capabilities to describe the subjects of the course and to utilize sources. The students follow the reporting instructions of Jyväskylä University of Applied Sciences.
Sufficient - Satisfactory (1-2):
The student demonstrates to have reached the learning objectives of the course on a satisfactory level. The student participates occasionally in contact lessons and only a little or not at all in conversation in online environment. He/she completes the agreed assignments satisfactorily. In written assignments, he/she shows modest capabilities to describe the subjects of the course and he/she utilizes sources very little. The student follows only partly the reporting instructions of Jyväskylä University of Applied Sciences.
Fall (0): The student does not achieve the objectives and the competences of the course. Written tasks are not completed.
