Objective

Students:
Define factors that influence health and well-being and understand their significance at the level of the individual, the family and society
Understand the significance of promoting health and well-being as part of work with customers and patients
Prepare personal health and well-being promotion plans for themselves and draw on this knowledge to guide others
Have basic capabilities for guiding and counselling individuals and families
Have basic knowledge of implementing drug therapy safely and preventing infections

Content

Promotion, forms of prevention (proactive and preventive work, bringing up sensitive topics)
Priorities of health and well-being promotion: Nutrition, physical activity, mental health
Basics of encountering and counselling skills using different communication channels and technologies
Change phase model
Basics of working methods: empowerment, goal-orientation, dialogue, motivating interview, group and individual counselling
Skills in drug therapy
Prevention of infections, ordinary safety measures, hand hygiene

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The objects of assessment are described under ‘Course requirements’. Assessment of competence takes place as self-assessment and in cooperation with the team, working life representatives and coaches.
Pass:
- the students have taken an active part in dialogue training and the relevant work
- they have determined factors that influence health and well-being and understand their significance at the level of the individual, the family and society
- they have understood the significance of promoting health and well-being as part of work with customers and patients
- they have prepared personal health and well-being promotion plans for themselves and draw on this knowledge to counsel others
- they have demonstrated capabilities for guiding and counselling individuals and families, using various communication channels
- they have basic knowledge of implementing safe drug therapy.
