Objective
The students will develop their skills in understanding the contents of child welfare legislation and in applying it in practice. The studies concentrate on the rehabilitative activities both in non-institutional and in institutional child welfare settings, and in various operational environments. Child-centred and family-based orientation and parental support will be emphasized. The students also will learn how to support traumatised children, young people and parents.
Content
Child welfare legislation, process of child welfare work, working methods and measures in non-institutional and in institutional child welfare settings, and in various operational environments. Psycho-social and sexual development of children and youth, protective and risk /traumatising factors, working with traumatised children and young people.
Qualifications
The students recognise the factors that create need for child welfare, legislation on children's position and rights as well as the significance of preventive child welfare in society.
