Objective

Students are able to estimate the key factors affecting the wellness of the most important farm animals. Students are able to determine the conditions for various animals according to their production phase and natural need. Students are able to assess the impact of environment on the life of farm animals and the quality of products obtained from livestock.

Content

Legislation concerning animal husbandry
Animal wellness guidelines and recommendations
Specific characteristics of production stages in terms of wellness
Monitoring the success of feeding in terms of health and wellness.
The basics of natural behaviour of various production animals.

Qualifications

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Student with basic skills (1-2)
Students are familiar with the basics of livestock wellness and behaviour.

Developing learner (3-4)
Students can independently assess the wellness factors affecting livestock in farms and are able to assess the effects of production.

Expert performer (5)
Students are able to independently apply their skills in a variety of farm circumstances and know how to develop the practices in a farm regarding livestock wellness and care.
