Nursing in Common Illnesses (6cr)

Objective

The students know the central health problems of the population, their threats, prevention, changes that the illnesses cause, and they know the central helping methods of nursing concerning these diseases. The students plan, realise and assess nursing as a part of the overall care of the patient, exploiting information based on evidence. The students are familiar with remedial and health promotive nursing and resource-oriented guidance and teaching.

Content

Central illnesses of the population and their prevention. Recognising and observing the symptoms of central illnesses, and the comprehensive nursing of a patient as part of a nursing, service and rehabilitation chain. Multiprofessional cooperation in the different operational units of health care. Nursing documentation in the different stages of care.

Qualifications

The students are familiar with the most central helping methods of especially the nursing of elderly patients. The students know the basics of human anatomy and physiology. The students have the basic readiness to plan, realise and assess health promotion.
