Objective
The students have a command of the most general acute and chronic medical and surgical illnesses, and they use this knowledge base in clinical nursing. The students master the helping methods of medical and surgical nursing. The students know the care and service chains of patients/clients with central national diseases. The students deepen their skills of patient-oriented nursing in adult nursing, and master the basics of the health promotion of adult population, and can assess the physical, mental and social functional capacity of the medical and surgical patient utilizing different instruments of functional capacity

Decision-making in nursing and evidence-based knowledge in adult nursing
Current special issues of adult nursing
Assessment methods of functional capacity
Principles of remedial nursing
Patient guidance for individuals and groups and their relatives
Basic technology in nursing.
Qualifications
The students have the basic competence in nursing and in the promotion of health and well-being. The students know the central health problems of the population, their threats and prevention and the changes illness brings. They know the care and service systems and the role of patient organisations as a part of the patients’ care.
