Objective
The students understand the significance of communication supporting and replacing speech / AAC - Augmentative and Alternative Communication - for the interaction between people and their empowerment. They are able to interact with the speech-impaired and to advance their communication with a supporting network in their close environment.
Content
The concept of AAC - augmentative and alternative communication, various AAC communication methods, pictorial communication exercises (Symbolikirjoitus 2000 software), teaching methods, aids and their use, interpreter and other services.
Qualifications
The students understand clients' individual needs for support related to communication and language development and have experience of client-oriented work in health and social care services.
