Objective

The students understand the importance of service control and condition monitoring as parts of effective and productive maintenance. They know the principles of typical condition monitoring methods and can apply them to paper machines. They know how to make vibration tests, analyse the results, and make conclusions on the condition of the device. They are able to use the basic service control and condition monitoring devices used in the paper industry, as well as utilising their information for the decision-making related to maintenance.

Content

Definitions and concepts in condition monitoring. Typical condition monitoring methods of the paper industry, their applications. Basic measuring and sensor technology of vibration tests, basics of signal processing. Analysis of the results of vibration tests, error diagnostics. Condition monitoring methods for lubrication and hydraulic oils. Condition monitoring and service control systems in the paper industry. Prospects for condition monitoring.

Qualifications

Basics of maintenance.
Maintainability and Reliability. Applied Mathematics. Paper Machine Technology. Mechanics of Vibrations.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Excellent (5) the student has attained the objectives of the course at an excellent level.
Good (3-4) the student has attained the objectives of the course at a satisfactory level.
Satisfactory (1-2) as a rule, the student has attained the objectives of the course.
