Paper Machine Design (10cr)

Objective

The students understand the significance of product development and design for business activity. They know the phases of the product development and design process as well as their contents. They understand the importance of manufacture technology in product design, and are able to choose suitable materials. They are familiar with the characteristics of the design of paper machine structures and components. They are able to design simple structures and related machine components.

Content

Product development and design. Phases of product design. Creative work methods. Standardisation and modulation. Patenting. Machine safety and ergonomics. Designing according to manufacture method. Design of axles and bearing. Design of welded structures. Design of screw joints. Design of paper machine components.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Excellent (5) the student has attained the objectives of the course at an excellent level.
Good (3-4) the student has attained the objectives of the course at a satisfactory level.
Satisfactory (1-2) as a rule, the student has attained the objectives of the course.
