Objective

The objective of the course is to strengthen students’ working-life skills and develop job-hunting skills. After completing the course, the student:

Module 1, Find your dream job – becoming a skilled job-hunter
• recognises his/her professional strengths and can leverage them in job-hunting
• can prepare the key job-hunting documents
• knows the rules of the social media and can apply them in job-hunting and the working life.

Module 2, Rules of working life
• knows his/her legal and contractual rights and obligations in working life
• knows what he/she commits to by signing an employment contract
• understands the key operating principles of working life
• understands the significance of collective agreements and labour legislation in working life and can seek the information he/she needs from the right sources.

Module 3, Day-to-day working life
• knows the key rules and operating principles connected to occupational well-being and occupational safety
• knows the social security of a working-age person.

Content

The course consists of three modules:
1) Find your dream job – becoming a skilled job-hunter
2) Rules of working life
3) Day-to-day working life
Each module includes 1–2 online lectures and assignments. The lectures use real-life examples from working life. The course uses the Moodle learning environment, which facilitates both individual and group assignments. During the course, the students create a curriculum vitae (CV) and keep a learning diary. The course also includes a revision lecture.

Qualifications

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The course is assessed on pass/fail basis. In order to pass, the student must acceptably complete all the learning tasks assigned for the course.
